The table above lists current DomainLore premium auction inventory for UK .uk names. Use the guide below for listing sections, proxy bidding, overtime, gross pricing, post-auction settlement, and how to shortlist with history and link signals.

How DomainLore auctions work

DomainLore.uk is an open marketplace for secondary .uk domains. Sellers list timed auctions; the highest valid bid wins when any reserve is met. After close, buyer and seller deal directly (bank transfer, cards, crypto, and similar methods shown on each listing). The platform reports on the order of 10,000 members and about £11 million in completed sales.

Auction flow in short:

Listing types

Spotlight auctions

Premium section for generics, commercial keyword phrases, 2-3 letter .co.uk names, and any auction that already attracted bids. Seller sale fees on Spotlight are separate from the buyer's invoice (5% on sales of £100+, or 10% for SEO Spotlight lots).

Hidden Gems

Keyword-rich, brandable, acronym, and expired traffic names. Many Hidden Gems use a small seller listing fee that is credited back if the name receives a bid and sells. Once a bid lands, the auction typically moves into Spotlight.

SEO-focused lots

Some Spotlight inventory is labelled for SEO / backlink value. Treat third-party metrics on the listing as triage only; verify history before bidding.

Backorders and drop lists

DomainLore also shows deleting domains and backorder bids. That flow is separate from timed aftermarket auctions. This page focuses on live auction inventory in the premium feed.

Pricing, VAT, and buyer costs

What happens after the auction

  1. DomainLore emails both parties with contact details.

  2. Buyer and seller should start contact within 3 days.

  3. Agree payment method, transfer steps, and dates; aim to finish within about 7 days of close.

  4. If contact stalls, reminders follow around 14 days, and phone details may become available in My auctions.

  5. Deals that never complete damage Competence Level, especially for non-paying buyers. Sellers must transfer within 7 days after payment is received when obliged to sell.

  6. Buying from a Trusted Seller includes a DomainLore guarantee of up to £1,000 for genuine direct deals where the domain (or refund) never arrives.

What the table above shows

The table surfaces live DomainLore auctions from the premium feed and overlays history and link-quality signals. Typical columns include Source (DomainLore), Bids, Current Price (£), End Time, plus:

Workflow: shortlist by Karma Score and link columns, check reserve status and seller trust signals on DomainLore, then set a proxy maximum or bid on the listing page.

Due diligence for DomainLore lots

  1. Open Wayback snapshots across years; skip pharma, casino, piracy eras, and odd redirect chains.

  2. Check referring pages, beyond DA/TF or on-listing DR figures alone. Prefer editorial, in-content links and natural anchors.

  3. Match topics. Historical theme and planned use should line up if link equity matters.

  4. Screen UK trademarks and brand conflict before bidding on commercial strings.

  5. Read reserve status (met / not met / Hidden Reserve) so the close price expectation is clear.

  6. Review seller CL / Trusted badge, and budget Nominet transfer plus Escrow when the price warrants it.

How Karma.Domains helps with DomainLore

DomainLore runs a busy UK aftermarket feed. Sorting by price or end time alone still leaves content history and link quality hard to judge at speed.

Karma.Domains aggregates DomainLore premium auction data on an hourly cadence and adds:

Filter for clean candidates here, then open the matching DomainLore auction page to place or raise a maximum bid.

Quick buyer's checklist

Bottom line: DomainLore is a direct-settlement UK .uk auction marketplace with Spotlight and Hidden Gems inventory, proxy maximums, 10-minute overtime into 3-minute quiet periods, and gross (VAT-inclusive) prices with no buyer commission. Use the hourly table above to filter by Karma Score and link signals, then bid on DomainLore only after reserve status, seller trust, and full transfer costs are clear.

Frequently asked questions

What is DomainLore?

DomainLore.uk is a UK secondary marketplace for .uk domains (.co.uk, .org.uk, .uk, and related endings). Members list names in timed auctions; buyers and sellers settle directly after the close. The site also publishes drop lists and backorders for deleting domains.

Do buyers pay platform commissions?

Bidding is free for buyers. Platform sale fees apply mainly to sellers (for example Spotlight selling fees). Buyers pay the winning bid, Nominet transfer charges (historically paid by the buyer), and Escrow fees if Escrow is used.

How does proxy bidding work?

Enter a maximum bid. DomainLore places the lowest amount needed to stay ahead, up to that maximum. If two buyers set the same maximum, the earlier bid wins.

How does overtime (anti-snipe) work?

A successful bid in the final 10 minutes puts the auction into overtime. The auction then stays open until 3 continuous minutes pass with no new bids; each late bid restarts that window. Proxy-triggered extensions may shorten to 1 or 2 minutes. Total overtime often stays under about 20 to 30 minutes.

What are Spotlight and Hidden Gems?

Spotlight is the premium section for generics, commercial keyword phrases, short .co.uk names, or any listing that already received bids. Hidden Gems covers keyword-rich, brandable, and expired traffic names. Listings that receive an opening bid typically move into Spotlight.

Are listed prices plus VAT?

Auction prices are shown gross (VAT-inclusive). The final bid is the amount the buyer pays; VAT is not added on top of the displayed price.

What happens after winning an auction?

DomainLore notifies buyer and seller. Both sides should make contact within 3 days and aim to complete payment and transfer within about 7 days of close. Reminder emails follow if the deal stalls. Failed or non-paying deals reduce the buyer's Competence Level and can lead to bidding blocks or bans.

What is Competence Level?

Verified members start at CL 2. Successful purchases add 1 point. A failed deal subtracts 2 points for the buyer and 1 for the seller. At CL 0, bidding stops until the score recovers. Below zero, the account can be permanently banned from auctions.

What is a Trusted Seller?

Sellers with CL of 40 or higher and at least 30 completed sales get a Trusted Seller badge. DomainLore offers reimbursement up to £1,000 if a buyer pays a Trusted Seller directly and never receives the domain (or a refund). For higher amounts, the House Rules recommend Escrow (around £4,000 and above).

Can sellers set a reserve?

Yes. Standard reserves show whether the reserve is met, without revealing the amount until it is met. Trusted Sellers may use a Hidden Reserve protected by a cryptographic hash revealed at close.
