The table above lists current WHC.ca .CA TBR inventory (live auctions and related pending-drop / entry-bid rows under the same source filter). Use the guide below for entry bids, Drop schedule, multi-bidder auctions, proxy rules, and how to shortlist with history and link signals.

How WHC.ca auctions work

WHC Domain Auctions cover .CA names in CIRA's weekly To Be Released (TBR) Drop. Other TLDs are not in scope on the current platform.

Flow in short:

  1. Browse the Drop list (usually locked Monday morning).

  2. Place an entry bid before Wednesday Drop (from C$18).

  3. WHC competes at Drop (2:00 p.m. EST / 3:00 p.m. EDT, 19:00 UTC in Terms).

  4. Sole entry + successful catch → win at the entry price after pay and claim.

  5. Multiple entries + successful catch → ~7-day public auction to about 1:00 p.m. ET next Wednesday.

  6. Missed catch → no charge.

Eligibility (Auction Terms): active WHC client in good standing, accurate profile, card on file, and pre-authorization to charge within 24 hours of a win.

Entry bids vs live auctions

Entry bid (pending Drop)

Shows interest and queues WHC for that name at Drop. If you are alone and WHC wins the race, the entry amount is what you pay (registration year included). Entry bids are not charged when placed. Higher entries before Drop can raise priority in WHC's internal catch ordering.

Karma.Domains may show these pending rows as backorder-style WHC listings with C$ pricing.

Live multi-bidder auction

Starts after Drop when WHC secured a name that had more than one entry. Anyone who entered is in automatically; others can join before close. Opening high bid is the highest entry; equal entries prefer the earlier submission.

Proxy maximums

In Auction Center fields:

Soft close: a bid in the last 3 minutes adds 3 minutes.

Bid increments (CAD)

Bids over C$10,000 may trigger extra verification under Auction Terms.

What the table above shows

The table surfaces live WHC auctions (and related WHC pending-drop inventory under the same source) with history and link-quality overlays. Typical columns include Source (WHC.ca), Bids, Current Price (C$), End Time, plus:

Workflow: shortlist by Karma Score and link columns, confirm Pending Drop vs live auction status on WHC, then set an entry or proxy maximum in CAD.

Due diligence for WHC.ca lots

  1. Open Wayback snapshots across years; skip pharma, casino, piracy eras, and odd redirect chains.

  2. Check referring pages, beyond DA/TF scores alone.

  3. Confirm Canadian Presence Requirements for .CA under CIRA / WHC domain terms before bidding.

  4. Screen trademarks for Canada and other markets tied to the brand string.

  5. Budget the full path: entry floor or rising proxy max, taxes, and 24-hour card charge on win.

  6. Treat Drop catch as competitive: a missed Drop is unpaid; a popular Hot name often means a 7-day auction fight.

How Karma.Domains helps with WHC.ca

WHC publishes large weekly .CA Drop lists and multi-day auctions. Sorting by end time or bid count alone still leaves content history hard to judge at speed.

Karma.Domains aggregates WHC auction and pending-drop data on an hourly cadence and adds:

Filter for clean candidates here, then continue on WHC.ca to place entry bids or update auction maximums.

Quick buyer's checklist

Bottom line: WHC.ca Domain Auctions are weekly .CA TBR sales with entry bids from C$18, a Wednesday Drop, sole-win delivery or a ~7-day multi-bidder auction to about 1:00 p.m. ET, proxy maximums, and 3-minute / 3-minute soft close. Missed catches are unpaid. Use the hourly table above to filter by Karma Score and link signals, then bid on WHC only after CPR fit, fee stack, and Drop timing are clear.

Frequently asked questions

What is WHC.ca Domain Auctions?

Web Hosting Canada (WHC Online Solutions) is a CIRA- and ICANN-accredited Canadian registrar. Its Domain Auctions tool targets .CA names in CIRA's weekly To Be Released (TBR) Drop. Place an entry bid before the Drop; if WHC catches the name and you are the only bidder, you win at the entry price. If several clients entered bids, a public auction follows.

When is the weekly Drop?

.CA Domains Drop every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. EST or 3:00 p.m. EDT (19:00 UTC in WHC's Auction Terms). The upcoming list is typically finalized Monday morning and can include several thousand names.

What is an entry bid?

An entry bid (the former backorder step) registers interest before Drop and is the price paid if WHC catches the name and no one else entered. Entry bids start at C$18 and include one year of registration on a sole win. A valid credit card must be on file; WHC charges it on a win. Raising the entry before Drop also signals priority for WHC's catch algorithm. Domains with multiple entry bids go to public auction after a successful catch.

How long do multi-bidder auctions run?

About 7 days after Drop, closing around 1:00 p.m. ET the following Wednesday. Others who did not place an entry bid can still join a live auction before close.

How does proxy bidding and overtime work?

Enter a maximum bid in the Client Area Auction Center. The system bids only as high as needed up to that ceiling. A bid in the final 3 minutes extends the close by 3 minutes. Further late bids restart that window.

What are the bid increments?

Per WHC Auction Terms: C$10 when the auction is under C$500; C$50 between C$500 and C$5,000; C$100 above C$5,000. When you outbid another max, the new displayed high is typically the previous maximum plus one increment (example in Terms: prior max C$100, your max C$200 → new high C$110).

What happens after winning?

WHC creates an invoice and attempts to charge the card on file within 24 hours for the entry or winning auction bid plus applicable taxes (CAD). Claim the domain in the Client Area Auction Center and set owner contact details. Future renewals are at WHC's normal .CA rates.

What if WHC misses the Drop?

There is no charge when WHC does not secure the name. WHC does not guarantee every catch; TBR is competitive across registrars.

What are Hot domains?

WHC marks selected short or popular Drop candidates with a fire icon on the auctions page. Those names often attract multiple entry bids and proceed to public auction.
