The table above lists current Porkbun auction inventory. Use the guide below for bidder eligibility, proxy bids, overtime, Expired vs user lots, post-win payment and transfer rules, related Marketplace Buy Now, and how to shortlist with history and link signals.

How Porkbun auctions work

Porkbun runs timed domain auctions on porkbun.com/auctions. Inventory includes registrar Expired Auctions and user-listed names. Auctions run through Dynadot's DAX network, which can put the same lot in front of bidders at other participating registrars.

Auction flow in short:

Expired Auctions vs user auctions

Expired Auctions

These lots sit on Porkbun's expired / grace path. After payment, Porkbun either renews the domain before delivery or updates expiry so registry auto-renew can apply. Once a name receives an auction bid in the broader expire flow, the prior registrant typically loses the ability to renew it back.

Separate from on-site auctions: around day 21 of the renewal grace period, some expired Porkbun names may also be queued to third-party auction venues (often GoDaddy or Dynadot, depending on TLD). That inventory is outside this table; this page covers lots shown on Porkbun's own auction feed.

User-listed auctions

Registrants list Porkbun-hosted domains with a minimum bid and schedule. While a name is listed, outbound transfers are blocked and pending transfers are cancelled. Auctions with bids cannot be cancelled early. Seller commission is 15% of the winning bid (85% to the seller). Payouts go through PayPal on verified sales that are at least 15 days old.

Transfer and renewal notes

Marketplace Buy Now

The same registrar also runs a fixed-price Marketplace (porkbun.com/marketplace). Purchase moves the domain into the buyer's account immediately. Seller Marketplace commission is commonly about 7%, with no separate listing fee beyond commission on a completed sale.

Karma.Domains may surface Porkbun Marketplace Buy Now rows under the same porkbun source filter. Those rows use fixed-price Marketplace checkout with no auction clock.

Fees and payment timing

What the table above shows

The table surfaces live Porkbun auctions (and related Porkbun listings under the same source filter) and overlays history and link-quality signals. Typical columns include Source (Porkbun), Bids, Current Price, End Time, plus:

Workflow: shortlist by Karma Score and link columns, confirm auction type and end time on Porkbun, then place a proxy bid (or open Marketplace checkout for Buy Now rows).

Due diligence for Porkbun lots

  1. Open Wayback snapshots across years; skip pharma, casino, piracy eras, and odd redirect chains.

  2. Check referring pages, beyond DA/TF or parking widgets alone.

  3. Treat parking revenue / visitor columns on Porkbun's auction UI as historical parking data only.

  4. Screen trademarks for the brand string and key markets for that TLD.

  5. Budget the full path: winning bid, transfer/renewal fees, 24-hour payment, and up to 60 days before an outbound registrar move.

  6. Confirm Expired vs user listing so renewal expectations after win stay accurate.

How Karma.Domains helps with Porkbun

Porkbun publishes large auction and Marketplace catalogs. Sorting by end time or price alone still leaves content history hard to judge at speed.

Karma.Domains aggregates Porkbun auction data on an hourly cadence and adds:

Filter for clean candidates here, then continue on Porkbun to bid or complete Marketplace checkout.

Quick buyer's checklist

Bottom line: Porkbun auctions are timed DAX-backed sales with proxy bidding, 5-minute / 5-minute overtime, 24-hour winner payment, Expired Auction renewal handling, 15% seller commission on user auctions, and a related Marketplace Buy Now path (~7% seller fee). Use the hourly table above to filter by Karma Score and link signals, then bid on Porkbun only after eligibility, fee stack, and transfer-lock timing are clear.

Frequently asked questions

What is Porkbun?

Porkbun is a US domain registrar with on-site timed auctions and a fixed-price Marketplace. Auctions are powered by Dynadot's DAX network, so lots listed on Porkbun can attract bidders across participating registrars. Sellers can also push inventory to Afternic, SedoMLS, Atom.com, and related aftermarkets.

Who can bid on Porkbun auctions?

The account must be in good standing with verified email and phone, a valid credit card on file, and at least one order of $5.00 or more in the last 365 days (pre-funding the account counts). Some accounts or auctions may require a deposit before a bid is accepted. Shill bidding and bidding on your own lots are prohibited.

How does proxy bidding work?

A bid above the current price plus the minimum increment becomes a proxy bid. Porkbun bids only as high as needed to stay ahead, up to the maximum you set.

How does overtime work?

A bid in the final 5 minutes of the bidding period extends the close by 5 minutes. Further late bids restart that window under the same rule.

What must a winner pay, and how soon?

Pay the winning bid plus any transfer and renewal fees within 24 hours of close. Porkbun may charge account credit or the default card automatically, or send a payment link. If the winner does not pay, the next highest bidder may be offered the domain. Deposits for non-paying winners can be forfeited.

What is an Expired Auction vs a user auction?

Expired Auctions cover names Porkbun is moving out of the renewal grace path. After payment, Porkbun renews the domain (or advances the expiry) before moving it into the winner's account. User-listed auctions are seller inventory with a custom minimum and dates; those lots are not auto-renewed on win. User auction sellers pay a 15% commission (85% of the winning bid to the seller).

Is there a transfer lock after winning?

Domains purchased via auction typically cannot leave Porkbun for up to 60 days after the name is moved into the account. Budget renewals and DNS changes inside that window if an outbound transfer is planned later.

How does Marketplace Buy Now differ from an auction?

Marketplace listings sell at a fixed price and move into the buyer's Porkbun account on purchase. Seller commission on Marketplace sales is commonly about 7%. Auctions run on a clock with competitive bidding, proxy maximums, and the 5-minute extension rule.

Are parking revenue and visitor numbers on the auction page a forecast?

Porkbun notes that revenue and visitor figures come from parking providers for the period the domain was parked. Treat them as historical only; they do not guarantee future performance.
